I am reminded of the old saw that government breaks your leg, then gives you a crutch you paid for and asks you to be grateful!
That is so true in Iraq!
President Obama caused the problem with ISIS in Iraq, by, first premature removal of all troops, then failing to respect the growth of ISIS in Syria, and finally failing to destroy ISIS as they came in the open, across hundreds of miles of open desert in a convoy — right in the open.
Now, they are in place in Iraq, but only 15,000 strong initially, and before new recruits joined them) and able to defeat better trained better equipped Iraqi Army units by pure fear, a historical method used by Indians who whooped and hollered while displaying bloody scalps.
The Iraqi Army supplied ISIS with modern US arms by dropping their arms and fleeing. (So Much for US training.) Now ISIS has had two months to slaughter non- Muslims by the thousands and create great terror.
Our puny efforts –at most two F-18s from a carrier that could put dozens of planes in the air over the battlefield on a rotation and continuing basis — and the Air Force can place even more and even larger aircraft. The US can put an aluminum overhead over Iraq if the president should order.
The president says that the US has more weapons than just kinetics, like economics and diplomacy, but this is a final ripping of the pacifist veil he wears — all diplomatic efforts with people who machine-gun innocents by the hundreds is absolutely, positively useless.
Someone must tell the president that massacres of innocent civilians, holding girls for sex slaves, and public be headings in the age of satellite delivery of instant TV makes naïveté unsupportable today.
In fact, two years ago this president, well let me put it like this from Politico, today:
“It also puts new focus on a government body Obama created two years ago: the “Atrocities Prevention Board,” which has the weighty responsibility of prodding the U.S. to fight genocide anywhere in the world.”
Yes, and if this not what his own study was designed for, then what is it for?
