Want to know who the six most Left-Leaning members of Congress are?

Here are the sponsors, with Dennis Kucinich, of a bill in Congress to limit the oil and gas industry to “reasonable profits” in the sale of gas: “ John Conyers Jr. (Mich.), Bob Filner (Calif.), Marcia Fudge (Ohio), Jim Langevin (R.I.), and Lynn Woolsey (Calif.).”

Yes, our own County’s Bob Filner, currently a candidate for Mayor of the City of San Diego!

The Iranians seem to have quieted their buster, at least temporarily.

You may not recall but in 1988 one of our Destroyers struck an Iranian mine in international waters. Unfortunately for the Iranians, our president was named Ronald Reagan, and he immediately retaliated by ordering two Iranian oil platforms to be evacuated – and destroyed.

The Iranians ordered their “fleet” to attack the US Navy – and the Iranians promptly lost not just the two oil platforms but a Frigate, a gunboat and several speedboats.

I guess it depends on how many of their ships they are willing to lose…

I am just amazed at how people like Newt can believe that their personal character is not a legitimate subject for discussion. His serial affairs and divorces are not the only subject of legitimate discussion, but certainly are ONE legitimate subject.

It would have been a legitimate subject in the Kennedy White House, had we known about JFK cavorting, and it certainly was in the Clinton White House (although in both cases the Democrats circle the wagons.)

I am not certain what makes Newt think he is immune when such things destroy Weiner, and Spitzer, and Cain and many more. Seeing what happens to others he blithely cruises along thinking it wont touch him.

Can we have a discussion of whether severely disabled children should be in the K-12 system at all? Their problems are problems for all of society to address, but they have been placed into an academic system designed for already too many things: nutrition, transportation, recreation, sports, art, music, and socializing — each to the detriment of academics because there is a paucity of time and money.

The education system is guilty of overreaching in trying to be all things to all people, and is failing at its primary purpose. US students rank 17th in reading, 21st in math and 23rd in science, and more alarmingly to me, California students rank 47 among the states of this already educationally failing nation!

And this demonstrably failing system can provide everything mentioned above, including solving the problems of the disabled?

I think not.
