Today, I remember and honor my Classmate, Classmate and my Best Man, Jack Peace, who bailed from his stricken jet over North Vietnam, was seen alive on the ground, and was was never recovered.
RIP
Because of political restrictions on the use of our available power, Jack died in vain. One of my other Classmates and close friends bailed out of the Navy because he was fired upon by SAM batteries on Ho Chi Minh’s Palace, but was forbidden to retaliate. When he had his third plane was shot out underneath him, he resigned even though he was a nominee for the Blue Angels.
Many of us remember those days, when our commands told us not to wear our uniforms off the base. Liberals ruled the day, but I wore mine anyway.
